A father walks the beaches of Gasparilla Island, off the coast of Florida in the gulf, while his wife and the girls' mother sleeps in during a recent vacation on the island. This image was created for a travel assignment for National Geographic Traveler Magazine about the best beaches in the United States. Gasparilla Island is a barrier island in southwest Florida, United States, straddling the border of Charlotte and Lee Counties. Its largest town is Boca Grande, and it is the location of the Gasparilla Island State Park.
